With all the study done online, in your time you can even have all the theory done before you come on holiday. However, if you require classroom study we can have one of our  Instructors hold a private classroom session for you. We have multilingual instructors from Sweden, France, Australia, and England. Who can speak a variety of languages, so the course does not have to be in English, also the online system has many different languages. So you can study and do the exams in your mother tongue.

OPEN WATER POOL SESSIONS:

After you have completed the online study you are now ready for the pool session. This normally takes between 4- 5  hours to complete. One of our SSI Instructors will help you master the skills you are required to do in order to become a competent diver. This is not an endurance test but you must be comfortable in the water, be able to float unassisted for 10 minutes and swim 200 meters.

SSI OPEN WATER TRAINING DIVES:

Next is the fun part, diving in the open ocean. We do a minimum of 4 Open water dives over 2 days. From either the beach or the boat. Kata Beach is our house reef and is commonly used for at least 1 day of the open watercourse.

Kata Beach has an amazing variety of marine life including stingrays, nudibranchs, schooling fish and moray eels. Kata Beach is a cheaper option than boat trips, and the advantage is you are not spending 2 sometimes 3 hours to get out to the islands. But obviously, the beach is subject to weather conditions

When we go out on the boat we always use Racha Yai and Racha Noi Islands, these are known for good visibility and mild currents and are perfect for training new students. There are artificial reefs, a few small wrecks and marine life such as barracudas, pufferfish, and even sometimes turtles.

The open water dives we do at Kata Beach or the Racha Islands are where we practice the skills you learned in the pool and develop your confidence. After the skills are completed we then get to explore the dive sites and see the wonderful marine life

OPEN WATER DIVER COURSE PREREQUISITES:

NOTE: Before scuba diving, you must have some swimming ability, any diver with no swimming ability adds risk to themselves and others

• You must be able to complete a swimming test of 200m of any different style or 300m using mask snorkel and fins.
• Float in water too deep to stand for 10 minutes without any assistance.
• Minimum age is 10 years old

Our main dive center is located at Kata Beach with a transfer time of around 15 mins drive to the marina, we have transferred from all hotels in the following areas:

Free Transfers are from days 2 and 3.  7:15- 7:30 Patong  – 7:30 7:45 Kata Beach – Karon Beach –  Rawai Beach – Nai Harn – Chalong Bay (Transfers to boat 15 Mins )
