SSI NITROX ENRICHED AIR DIVER COURSE:

is for divers who intend to dive deeper using oxygen percentages above 21%, if you were to increase the oxygen 02% content in a scuba tank you then decrease the proportion of Nitrogen % . When we scuba dives its often on 21% normal air and its the rate of the 79% nitrogen that’s absorbed that dictates our bottom time or our no-decompression limit. Diving on Nitrox enriched air with a higher percentage of 32% Oxygen slows down how much nitrogen is dissolved as there’s less nitrogen in the gas blend, thereby extending the practicable underwater time by reducing and extending the decompression limits and increasing the no-stop dive time.

Scuba Divers’ limits and depths are determined by the gas we breathe, the size of the air scuba cylinder, as well as our decompression limits, dive computers calculate our saturation levels based on the % of 02 Oxygen content we breathe and we store this % into the computer when we set our Nitrox blend prior to the dive.

Imagine that you want to make 2 dives in one morning and that you want to make the most out of diving at a deep-water dive site, when you scuba dive using normal air 21% oxygen you would likely hit the no-decompression limit quickly if diving to say 28meters. This would then mean that the surface time between another 2nd  dive would be longer in order to off gas the dissolved nitrogen to allow the same dive again for a second dive at the same depth.

When we scuba dive there are 3 factors that all divers need to take into account when diving deep.

• How deep do we plan to dive?
• what air mixture do we use for the dive.
• How long we can safely stay there at a given maximum depth?
• Having sufficient air to safely ascend to make a safety stop with sufficient air left as a reserve.

WHO SHOULD TAKE THIS COURSE?

The Nitrox Enriched Air diver course is SSI most popular scuba diver course after open water diver certification, diving on enriched air gives divers more no decompression time mainly repetitive second and third dives of the day and with less nitrogen absorption you can get back into the water sooner with shorter surface intervals between dives. This course is recommended for any open water or certified dive looking to explore some of the deeper dive sites in Phuket.

COURSE PREREQUISITES:

• The minimum age is 10 years old
